Work has started to concrete Fourth Street from Hall to Mitchem Avenues.

CSC Construction began work last week on the concrete street project on Fourth Street from Hall Avenue to Mitchem Avenue.  

Weather permitting, a cold milling and armor coating project is scheduled to begin today, Sept. 11 on Highway 61 north of Imperial, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

The Friday night lights in Wallace have been shut off this football season after a shortage of players for eight-man football forced them to forfeit the season. 

Ryan Finley moved to Wallace in 1985, when he was in second grade, and has lived there ever since. He owns a construction company in town. 

School

Students at both Perkins County and Wallace schools performed well on the latest statewide achievement tests, better than their peers and much better than statewide averages.

Perkins County Schools will present Forty-Five Minutes from Broadway this Saturday and Sunday at the high school. 

Karen Ruiz of Grant was one of 50 University of Nebraska at Kearney students to be selected to serve as resident assistants for the 2019-20 academic year.

Darin Bottger joins Ben Holmstedt as the new physical therapist at PCHS. 

Perkins County Health Services welcomed Physical Therapist Darin L. Bottger to their team at the end of last month. 

During the evening hours of Saturday, Aug. 17, investigators with the Nebraska State Patrol performed alcohol inspections on businesses in Perkins, Keith and Chase Counties.
