With inflation on the rise, everyone is strapped for money, including emergency services entities in Perkins County. However, one way the county’s emergency services are able to stay viable is utilizing money created through the county’s “piggy bank”—the Perkins County Community Foundation Fund (PCCFF).

Recently, the PCCFF donated $1,000 to the Perkins County Ambulance Department to help them purchase a Zoll 12-Lead ECG Vitals Monitor.

The monitor allows the ambulance crew to read an individual’s heart vitals in the ambulance and then transmit the information to the hospital prior to the patient arriving at the hospital, according to Assistant Fire Chief Fred Reichert.

According to Reichert, the Perkins County Ambulance Department has historically been a non-tax supported entity for more than the last 10 years. Because of this, having the funds to purchase such upgraded equipment as the Zoll 12-Lead ECG Vitals Monitor has been hard to come by. “With the funding from the PCCFF, along with funds from other sources, the project was possible,” Reichert said. “We are very thankful for PCCFF’s support and financial assistance.”

Grant Money Application Deadline Approaching

The end of PCCFF’s fiscal year is approaching on June 30th, and we encourage non-profit and governmental entities in the county to submit applications for funding. PCCFF is especially looking to partner with entities who are investing long-term in Perkins County’s future in various different areas.

Those with questions are encouraged to call any PCCFF member, Treasurer Michelle Ross, or Chairman Dennis Demmel.

The author is Becky Uehling, vice chairman of PCCFF. The Perkins County Community Foundation Fund maintains an unrestricted endowment fund to support projects that provide positive community impact. PCCFF has a vision of “promoting vibrant communities and a high quality of life”. Local government and nonprofit entities can apply for grant funding from the Fund.
