Aurora Coop highlighted as June Chamber Spotlight

Aurora Cooperative was honored as the Perkins County Chamber of Commerce Business Spotlight for the month of June.

Employees Brent Sinsel and Andy Cantrell represented Aurora at the June 21 meeting.

Aurora Cooperative was founded in 1908 when eight farmers banded together to build the first corn crib in Aurora, Nebraska.

They knew together they could receive a better price for their grain, spurring Aurora’s slogan “Tougher Together.”

Aurora started in grain and has now grown into energy, agronomy, animal nutrition, precision ag technology and its own research company, Real Farm Research.

The company has grown from eight farmers in 1908 to nearly 18,000 equity share holders.

“If you do business with us, you’re part owner. It’s a local business,” Cantrell said.

“Our philosophy is going back to that one-on-one relationship with the farmer, with the rancher,” explained Sinsel.

Now 18,000 strong, Aurora has 83 locations in seven states and 753 employees, approximately 20 of which are located in Grant.

Looking towards the future, Aurora hopes to continue making smart decisions with owners equity allowing them to provide customers with new yielding solutions that make owners the most profitable anywhere in the world.

They will also continue with innovation in new products, technology, services and investing in their people.

Sinsel and Cantrell also explained Aurora’s hope to offer bulk fuel delivery to area farmers and ranchers in the future.

As Aurora continues growing as a company, they continue to make investments in Grant and the surrounding community.

“It’s the best co-op in the world. That’s our philosophy and it’s what we believe in.”

“Aurora is invested in Grant, Nebraska and we’re here to stay,” said Sinsel.

Part of that investment includes the new Aurora A-Stop fuel station located north of Grant on Highway 61.

The A-Stop will feature a blender pump and provide multiple ethanol grades.

“We’re showing the growers in this area we’re committed to what they’re growing,” Sinsel said, adding, “we want to burn the ethanol they’re growing and take care of them.”

Sinsel and Cantrell also went on to discuss Aurora’s desire to be a part of their community.

“If there’s an event you need manpower for, we have it,” Cantrell said. “Just let us know when.”

Aurora Cooperative is located at 76195 Hwy. 61 in Grant and can be contacted at 308-352-2611.
