Martin Building Systems receives award

Over 120 Wick Builders from throughout the Great Plains, Midwest and Great Lakes states actively participated in three days of continuing education during the Wick Buildings 2017 Annual Meeting Jan. 31 to Feb. 3 in Coralville, Iowa.

“Dwayne Martin of Martin Building Systems in Grant participated in a variety of workshops, technology sessions and a component supplier tour,” said Jeff Farquhar, president and general manager for Wick Buildings, Inc. Mr. Farquhar added, “In addition, Martin Building Systems was honored with a Building of the Year award for a commercial retail building constructed in Madrid. Less than 30 out of almost 1000 buildings entered attained awards this year.”

In addition to workshops covering building materials, safety and new products, this year’s conference focused on use of design technology to improve the customer experience in planning their building.

Two special guests provided valuable insights at this year’s conference. Gary Auman of Dunlevey, Mahan & Furry Attorneys shared actions builders should take for worksite safety compliance. In addition, Connor Lokar of ITR Economics provided an indepth analysis of the material and construction industry to help builders as they plan for the future of their construction businesses.

In continuous operations since 1954 and with more than 73,000 buildings completed, Wick Buildings provides postframe structures for agricultural, dairy, equine, residential storage, municipal, commercial and light industrial markets. Wick Buildings are sold by independent builders, and built by independent builders and Wick crews who live and work in their local communities.
