Southwest Farm and Home Realty honored as Chamber’s Business Spotlight for September

PC Chamber of Commerce recognizes a member business each month to put them in the “spotlight” and inform other members and the community of what these businesses have to offer.

September’s Business Spotlight was awarded to Southwest Farm and Home Realty.

The owners of the realty company are Bob Tatum & Bernie Deaver.

Bob is Designated Broker, while Bernie has a sales license. Bernie is working toward a broker license in 2021.

The genesis was in 2018 when Bob, who had been an associate broker with Plainsman realty for 25 years, and Bernie, who had become a licensed sales person decided to open their own firm. “We officially opened January 2019,” Tatum said.

Their focus has remained the same for the duo, who say they remain committed to representing both sides of real estate. “Honestly representing buyers & sellers to a successful closing that leaves both parties happy and satisfied,” is their main goal, Tatum said.

Their target customers are sellers in the area and buyers from anywhere. “Potential buyers call often inquiring about specific properties we have listed, or just telling us what they are looking for. Just recently we’ve fielded calls from California, Colorado, South Dakota, Boston, Mass. We have shown local properties to potential buyers who have traveled here after finding us online and calling. Sometimes a buyer will contact us, just telling us what they are looking for – we keep their contact info so when the appropriate property comes up, they can be contacted,” Tatum said.

We also will, free of charge, give people who are thinking of selling an opinion of the market value of their home so they can make informed decisions,” he added.

The company has two employees, Tatum and Deaver.

As far as their future plans for Southwest Farm and Home Realty, they would like to continue to grow and list properties outside Perkins County as well.

“We listed a property in Keith County this year that is now under contract and will continue to seek clients wherever they may be in the area. We are offering video walkthroughs of listed properties; We plan to continue to increase online presence, area visibility & name recognition,” Tatum said.

Southwest Farm and Home Realty recently joined the Nebraska Realtors Association, which gives them access to a multiple listing service where their listings can be shared with other realtors in the region as well as Zillow & Realtor.com in order to give their listings maximum exposure to potential buyers.

Southwest Farm and Home Realty is located at 224 Central Ave., in Grant. Their website can be visited at southwestfarmandhome.com.
