Tribune receives 10 awards in NPA’s Better Newspaper Contest

The staff of the Grant Tribune-Sentinel, Brooke Robertson and Samantha Goff, attended the 145th annual convention of the Nebraska Press Association (NPA) with sponsorship from OnePress in Kearney, April 5-6.  

The NPA, on which Robertson serves as a board member, represents 15 daily, 149 weekly and 10 collegiate newspapers and is the state’s oldest trade association, founded in 1873.

The Saturday night banquet honored winners of the NPA Better Newspaper Contest with a video show presentation. More than 3,500 separate entries, representing nine dailies and 69 weeklies, were judged by members of the Louisiana Press Association.

The Tribune received the following 10 awards:

First place-—agricultural advertisement, Goff; creative ad writing, Goff.

Second place—feature series, Goff; news writing, Robertson; public notice and its promotion.

Third place—creative ad writing, Goff; sports column, Larry Pritchett; signature page, Goff; editorial, Robertson; feature photography, Tandy Overstreet.
