
Fireworks will be on display again this Fourth of July courtesy of the Perkins County Chamber and Grant Fire Department.
Grant to celebrate Independence Day with full slate of family activities
The Perkins County Chamber of Commerce is inviting residents and visitors to celebrate Independence Day with a full day of activities, entertainment and community events on Saturday, July 4, at Grant City Park, culminating with a fireworks show at the Perkins County Fairgrounds.
The annual Independence Day Celebration begins at 6:45 a.m. with an opening ceremony, followed by the Firecracker Fun Run at 7 a.m. A community breakfast hosted by the Perkins County Chamber will be served at 7:30 a.m. on a free-will donation basis.
Morning activities also include a sand volleyball tournament beginning at 9 a.m. and slushies available from the Perkins County FFA at 11 a.m.
Lunch will be served at 11 a.m. by Tinley Harger, Miss Nebraska Ambassador, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Backpack Program.
The Grant Methodist Church will host a watermelon feed from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A car show sponsored by Ride Rite Garage will take place from noon to 5 p.m., while new bounce houses hosted by Grant E-Free Church will be available from noon to 4 p.m. Free popcorn, cotton candy and water will be provided during the event.
The Perkins County FFA will also host a cornhole tournament beginning at 1 p.m. Registration opens at 11 a.m., with a $20 entry fee per team and prizes awarded to the top three finishers.
The City of Grant will offer free swimming at the municipal pool from 1 to 5 p.m.
Throughout the day, attendees can participate in tree trivia sponsored by the Grant Tree Board and enjoy music and announcements provided by Matthew Chandler-Smith of Orpheus Music & Sound.
The celebration concludes with a fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. at the Perkins County Fairgrounds.
The display will be presented by the Grant Volunteer Fire Department and funded through Perkins County Chamber donations and community support. Donations are still being accepted at any bank or collection jars at Hatch’s.
The Chamber board encourage residents and visitors to spend the day enjoying the community’s annual Fourth of July traditions.
