Deb and Mike share Woody’s Pivot Service with shop cat Simon,  for whom they purchased a sign that reads “Beware of Attack Cat.” Their shop will open March 22 followed by an open house April 9.

Woody’s Pivot Service moves to Grant

Woody’s Pivot Service, formerly of Holyoke, Colorado, has moved to Grant after nearly 24 years.

Mike “Woody” Woodhead is originally from Grant, and graduated high school in the area. Deb also has ties to Grant, as she moved to the area in 1991 and raised her daughter here.

Mike and Deb opened Woody’s in Holyoke in April of 1997. Mike said he originally got started in his field of work because his dad was in the irrigation business.

At the time, they were renting their property in Holyoke. They already owned the building that once was Wally’s Sales and Service. Mike’s dad had owned the property, and he and Deb purchased it from his estate in February of 2020.

They had a couple of people interested in purchasing the property, but once Covid-19 hit the sale fell through. The Woodheads decided to keep the building and move Woody’s to Grant.

They already owned two other businesses in the area, Magnum Manufacturing and Mowers N More, so opening shop in Grant seemed to be a good idea.

The Woodheads have remodeled much of the building, including new flooring, a new paint job, a new HVAC system, carpet, windows, the bathroom and the break room. Renovations are complete, but they are still working on moving everything to their new location.

“We have Woody’s nephew Cody Lee and his wife Brooke and their children to thank hugely,” Deb said. “They did most of the original renovation for us. It took a lot of hard work and hours, and a lot of dedication.”

“If it wasn’t for them we would have never got it done,” she continued. “They helped us out so much.”

Woody’s Pivot Service offers pivot irrigation parts and welding supplies. Mike said they are taking over welding and supplies from Merle Friesen of Friesen Welding.

They are also a T-L Irrigation dealer, and have been for 20 years.

Mike and Deb are the only two employees at the shop, along with shop cat Simon, who appears to be enjoying his new space, except for the new floors which are a little slick for his comfort.

Woody’s in Holyoke closed at the end of January, and the new location is set to open March 22. Though they are not yet open, Mike said if people need anything he wouldn’t turn them away.

Though the shop will open this month, the Woodheads will be traveling back and forth between Holyoke and Grant, but will move into their new house in May.

An open house is set for April 9, and the Woodheads will announce more details about that event at a later date.

Woody’s can be contacted at 308-352-2121 and woodyspivot@gmail.com, or by stopping in their shop at 76070 Highway 61 in Grant.
