Calibraska class sign-ups open now
The Calibraska Arts Initiative will be in Nebraska this year for in-person classes from June 7 to July 30. Online only classes will also once again be available.
Classes are for those 7 years and up, and are taught by industry based professionals primarily in Los Angeles and the East Coast.
The first set of in-person classes will be in Lincoln from June 7 to the 18. The next set will be held in North Platte from June 21 to July 2. The final set of classes will be located in Scottsbluff from July 5 to 16.
Some classes will be available both in-person and online, and some are specifically one or the other. Classes that will be available in-person include:
• Animation 1.0 - Animation Basics
• Animation 2.0 - Animating with Music and Sound
• Animation 3.0 - Filmmaker’s Studio (North Platte and Scottsbluff; in-person only)
• Nebraska 4-H - Big Red Animation Camp (Lincoln; in-person only)
• Special Topics: Effects Animation
Classes that will be available online only include:
• Animation 2.0 - Character Animation
• Fashion, Characters and Costume Design
• Beginning Hip-Hop Fundamentals
• African American Cinema
• Beginning Character Design
• Acting: Developing Scenes
• Acting: Auditioning on Camera
• Stand up and Improv Comedy
• Creative Writing
• Family Filmmaking
• Modeling in Maya 101
• 100 Years of SciFi Cinema
• Women of Color in Film
• Animation Games
• Direct Cinema

The Youth Arts Council of Perkins County will be assisting 20 youth, on a first come first serve basis, by providing $100 off any class. To inquire about the discount code, contact Kristin Chamness at 308-530-9343.
Calibraska also offers limited scholarship opportunities for those in need of financial aid. The application for funds can be found on Calibraska’s website, www.calibraska.org.
