PCHS Foundation awards scholarships
The Perkins County Health Services Foundation Board of Directors are pleased to announce the winners of this year’s scholarship programs. The scholarship program enables local youth to pursue their studies in health and medical focused studies on the collegiate level. We also have scholarships available to PCHS employees pursuing or continuing a degree in a medical field. The scholarship programs are made possible by the generosity of donors to the Foundation – most often through scholarship funds established to honor a loved one. The Foundation Board of Directors also sponsor an annual scholarship. The following students have received awards:
Emily Cornelius, current senior at Perkins County Schools, was awarded the Jeppesen Christian or Health Care Scholarship. Emily plans to attend Kansas State University to study kinesiology after which she will pursue her Doctor of Physical Therapy with the career goal of becoming a practicing physical therapist.
Heather Cockerill, current employee of Perkins County Health Services, was awarded the Kroeker Health Education Scholarship. Heather plans to attend the University of Arkansas College of Health Professions online to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences with the career goal of becoming a medical laboratory scientist.
Zoe Baumgartner, current senior at Perkins County Schools, was awarded the Perkins County Health Services Foundation Scholarship. Zoe plans to attend Mount Marty University to pursue a degree in nursing, after which she will continue her education through the CRNA program with the career goal of becoming a certified registered nurse anesthesiologist.
Mason McGreer, current senior at Perkins County Schools, was awarded the Perkins County Health Services Foundation Scholarship. Mason plans to attend the University of Kearney for two years through Kearney Health Opportunities Program, after which he will continue his education at the University of Nebraska Medical Center to earn his Bachelor of Science in Nursing with the career goal of becoming a registered nurse.
Bethany Peyton, current senior in Wallace, was awarded the Grainton United Methodist Church Health Education Scholarship. Bethany plans to attend Chadron State College to pursue her degree in radiologic technology with the career goal of becoming a radiologic technologist.
Mallory McConnell, current senior at Wallace Public Schools, was awarded the Max & Irene C. Kurkowski Health Services Scholarship. Mallory plans to attend the University of Nebraska at Kearney to pursue a degree in pre-physical therapy with the career goal of becoming a physical therapist.
Asa Hall, Perkins County Schools, was awarded the Perkins County Health Services Foundation Scholarship. Asa plans to attend Mid-Plains Community College in North Platte to pursue a degree in radiologic technology with the career goal of becoming a MRI technician.
Kenna Dickinson, Perkins County Schools, was awarded the Ron Patrick Scholarship. Kenna plans to attend Mid-Plains Community College in North Platte to work towards a degree in radiologic technology, after which she will continue her education with the career goal of becoming a radiologic technologist.
