Perkins County FFA earns top honors at state convention in Lincoln

The Perkins County FFA chapter earned multiple top finishes at the 98th Nebraska FFA State Convention, held March 25-27 in Lincoln.
Members competed in a variety of events throughout the three-day convention, with several teams placing among the top five in the state.
The ag issues team led the way with a fourth-place finish. Team members included Madison Potts, Emily Wilson, Wyatt Adams, Shyne Hickey, Jared Mireles, Haylea McGreer and Micah Hatcher. Crew members were Cade Kroeker and Jesus Marquez.
The farm and agribusiness management team also placed in the top five, earning fifth place. Members of that team were Grayson Bamgartener, Grant Gloy, Hannah Bishop and Jacqueline Gloy.
In individual competition, Ethan Gonzalez earned a gold award with a second-place finish in the agri-science fair in the environmental services/natural resource systems Division III category.
Lauren Bishop and Shyne Hickey performed an American Sign Language interpretation of the national anthem during the convention.
The marketing plan team earned a state runner-up finish, placing second overall. Team members included Jordan Lenhart, Emily Lenhart and Mya Deaver.
Savannah Miller earned a silver medal in natural resources speaking.

Advisor Doug Babbitt was also recognized on stage for his retirement after 18 years of service to the chapter.
Perkins County FFA’s results reflect a strong showing across multiple events at this year’s state convention.
