Fore the girls: Free golf clinic aims to inspire young players
Young lady golfers in the community will have a chance to tee off into a new sport this spring with a free, beginner-friendly clinic designed just for them.
The “Intro to Golf – Girls Golf 101” class will be held Saturday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to noon at Pheasant Run Golf Course. Open to girls entering fifth through 12th grade, the event aims to introduce participants to the fundamentals of golf in a welcoming and fun environment.
Led by local coach and golf enthusiast JJ Geisert, the clinic is free of charge and requires no preregistration, making it an accessible opportunity for beginners and experienced players alike.
“This class is FUNdamental for any girl who wants to try the game or build on what she already knows,” Geisert said.
Participants will rotate through hands-on instruction covering all aspects of the game, including putting, chipping and driving. In addition to learning technique, girls will also be introduced to basic golf rules and etiquette—key components of the sport that help build confidence on the course.
All equipment will be provided, though attendees are welcome to bring their own clubs if they have them.
The event also serves as a kickoff opportunity for the upcoming Pheasant Run Junior Golf Program, which begins in June. Organizers say the clinic is a great way for girls to get a head start on the season while discovering the joy and camaraderie that golf can offer.
