‘Queen of thrift shops’ to speak at Women’s Connection

Bargain shoppers and recyclers are sure to enjoy the “trunk show” by Mary Lou Powell—the “secondhand rose queen of the thrift shops.”

Powell will be traveling from Golden, Colorado to be the special feature and the guest speaker for the February meeting of the Grant and Ogallala Women’s Connection, Wednesday, Feb. 22 at the Congregational Church at 302 N. Spruce in Ogallala. Tickets are available at the door and include refreshments and entertainment. It all begins at 2:30 p.m.

Powell was given away as a child, became a high fashion model and now enjoys doing her “trunk show” and has been featured on Denver TV. She uses humor to show that used or thrown away is still useful and valuable. She is wife and mother of two and grandmother of eight.
