This 2008 Hummer H3, driven by Mariah Curtis of Madrid, sustained approximately $3,000 in damages in an accident north of Elsie Saturday.

Accident north of Elsie

Mariah Curtis, 21, of Madrid was transported to Perkins County Health Services with possible injuries after a one-vehicle accident on Saturday, Oct. 13.

Around 7:45 a.m., Curtis was traveling southbound on the Elsie Paxton Road one mile south of the Perkins / Keith County line when she ran off the road, causing her to overcorrect and lose control of her 2008 Hummer H3.

The vehicle came to rest after traveling 535 feet and hitting an embankment in the west ditch. The front and side air bags deployed on both the driver’s and passenger’s sides.

Because the accident occurred 9.5 miles southeast of Paxton, the Paxton Volunteer Fire Department responded and transported Curtis to the hospital. Perkins County Sheriff’s Office investigated the accident. Curtis was wearing her seat belt.

The estimated damage to the vehicle was $3,000.
