Jeff Wallin, left, of Adams Insurance Advisors, accepts the traveling trophy in recognition of being selected as business spotlight of the month from Chamber President Tawna Holmstedt.

Adams Insurance Advisors honored as Chamber’s June business spotlight

Jeff Wallin, an agent  for Adams Insurance Advisors was present at the June Chamber meeting and was recognized as the Business Spotlight.

Wallin has been with the company since 2001.

Wallin explained that Adams Insurance Advisors was started in 1916 in Lemoyne, NE by G.D. Adams.

The insurance agency was located in the bank in Lemoyne where G.D. sold insurance products as well as tax services to supplement income during the Great Depression.

In 1934, the insurance agency was moved to Brule with the bank due to the construction of Kingsley Dam and Lake McConaughy. G.D.’s son, Melvin Adams Sr. joined the business in 1939 and Melvin Adams, Jr. joined in 1960.

The insurance agency opened a second location in Ogallala in 1962 offering many lines of insurance.

In the 1980’s, Mel Adams Jr’s sons, Todd and Chad, joined the family business in both insurance and banking.

Wallin said that the focus and services have changed and expanded with time. When the insurance agency opened in 1916, home and auto insurance were the primary lines of insurance. Over the years, the agency has added lines of business insurance, farm and ranch, life and health, along with crop insurance.

Todd and Chad Adams have owned Adams Insurance Advisors since 1999.

“Our target customers have included agricultural owners and ag related businesses, main street business owners, manufacturers, home and auto customers, along with many others,” Wallin said.

“Our agency currently has 34 employees including our owners in 6 locations across western Nebraska and Colorado,” he explained.

Looking ahead into the future for the business Wallin said, “with being in business for over 100 years, our agency continues to be supportive of our communities and look for ways to help them grow. We recently had a new opportunity to open 2 locations along the Colorado front range. Looking forward, we continue to look for opportunities to partner with other agencies as well as grow within our communities in our changing environment.”
