Angel Tree Project and Christmas Meal Boxes to help those in need for the holidays

Ministerial Association, PCHS and Hatch’s partner to benefit community

The Perkins County Ministerial Association is seeking donations for both the Angel Tree gift project and Christmas meal boxes, in partnership with Perkins County Health Services and Hatch’s Super Foods.

Angel Tree

Churches in the county will play a role in spreading Christmas spirit throughout their communities while reaching children in need with a gift of their choice.

This year’s Angel Tree gift project sponsored by the Perkins County Ministerial Association is well underway, according to committee members. Request forms have been filled out and returned to the Angel Tree Committee.

The requested information has been transferred to a gift tag which will be available in participating churches, and have been available since Sunday, Nov. 22.

Anyone wanting to participate in the program may choose a tag and purchase a gift of choice.

Gifts for the program are to be returned in gift bags to the churches by Sunday, Dec. 6.

They will then be organized by the Angel Tree Committee and ready for the families to pick up on December 18th along with a food box.

An account for monetary gifts has been set up at Pinnacle Bank for those who prefer to participate in that manner.

Christmas Meal Boxes

Donations are currently being accepted for Christmas meal boxes for those in need.

This is the fourth year that Hatch’s Super Foods and Perkins County Health Services have teamed up with the Perkins County Ministerial Association, which has aided families through the holidays for many years.

The Christmas meal boxes include ham, a gallon of milk, dinner rolls, stuffing, ingredients for green bean casserole and sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie and whipped cream.

The meal boxes will also include recipe cards created by PCHS Dietician Shana Kraus, which provide instructions for both oven and microwave cooking.

There will also be suggestions and recipes for using the leftover food after the holidays.

Valerie Hochstein of Hatch’s Super Foods believes the food boxes are especially important this year with the extra hardships people may be experiencing due to the pandemic.

Those interested in contributing toward a meal box may do so at Hatch’s.

Proceeds donated beyond the cost of the meal boxes will be given to the Ministerial Association to help them aid families during Christmastime.

Donations will be accepted until Friday, Dec. 18.
