Banks donate to Grant Innovation Team

Due to the generosity of Grant’s three Banks, Adams Bank and Trust, Pinnacle Bank and Sandhills State Bank, a new community group has taken the first step in a process they hope will breathe new life into Grant’s business district.

The group, which calls itself Grant Innovation Team, came about when several like-minded individuals who saw a need for a rejuvenation of the city’s downtown began to meet informally during the summer of 2018.

Ideas generated from the twice-monthly meetings included replacement of sidewalks, curbs and light fixtures, installation of directional signage, and incorporation of green spaces and art elements, with the goal of enhancing Grant’s historic downtown, and making it more appealing to residents and visitors.

It was decided that one of the first steps would be to join Nebraska Main Street Network, a non-profit organization that coordinates resources and provides education to communities about place-based downtown revitalization, using historic preservation as the foundation.

The three banks agreed to provide the $300 for the first year’s dues.

With membership, the team, as well as local business leaders, can benefit from the information and ideas provided by Main Street, and network with other towns undergoing similar renovation projects.

Currently, the group is initiating the process to become a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Team members welcome input from the community. Anyone with ideas, comments or questions are encouraged to contact Grant Innovation Team at gitgoin19@gmail.com or PO Box 465, Grant, NE 69140.
