Bike Ride Around Grant Monday

Riders, to your marks!

Pinnacle Bank is bringing back Bike Ride Around Grant, or BRAG, after 10 years. The event will kick off at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, August 31.

Everyone is welcome to the bike ride; the only thing required is a bicycle! There is no cost to participate in the bike ride, nor is it necessary to be a customer with Pinnacle Bank.

On the evening of the event, participants will meet in the Pinnacle Bank parking lot, 345 Central Ave, to receive their passports.

The main route will take around 45 minutes to complete, but those who do not wish to ride the full route will be able to complete a shorter path. The goal is to have three stickers in the passport by the end of the ride.

Starting at Pinnacle Bank, riders will travel to Midwest Electric, then the elementary school, up to the south side of the park, making a stop at the Perkins County Hospital/GOCH, over to Westview, downtown toward Image Total Fitness and finishing at Hatch’s. Those who do not wish to complete the whole ride have the option for a shorter route.

Because the full route crosses the highway, law enforcement will be conducting traffic control to ensure the safety of all bicyclists.

Businesses and other entities participating in BRAG are Midwest Electric, Perkins County Chamber, City of Grant, Perkins County Sheriff, Golden Ours Convalescent Home, Country Supply, Image Total Fitness and Hatch’s Super Foods.

After riders complete the BRAG route, those with stickers on their passports will be entered into drawings for a bike, chamber greenbacks and other prizes. There are seven bikes up for grabs, in adult and children’s sizes.

Those who do not win a bike or greenbacks will be entered into a drawing for the prize table, where participants will be able to select a prize.

Pinnacle Bank decided to bring the event back since they were unable to have their yearly back-to-school barbecue, but still wanted to provide some sort of event for the community.

Michelle Ross of Pinnacle Bank said isolation has been rough, so it is nice to have a community activity for everyone.
