Brian Chamness has resigned his position as a Perkins County Sheriff’s Deputy to take a position in the private sector.
Chamness has been with PCSO since May 2015 and was the department’s K-9 handler.
At the Nov. 5 Perkins County commissioner meeting, Sheriff Jim Brueggeman requested the 4.5-year-old German Shepherd be declared surplus and released to Chamness. The dog has lived with Chamness throughout their time on the force.
The commissioners unanimously approved.
Brueggeman said they are not looking at getting another K-9 at this time.
Casey Griffin, who has previously served as a Perkins County, has been hired to again serve in this capacity.
