Community play “Long Live Love” is huge success

The Perkins County Community Theater’s production over the weekend of the play “Long Live Love” by Don Zolidis, was a huge hit, according to Director Tyler Mahnken, who thanked everyone who came out to support the event.

The play, a lighthearted whirlwind presented in two acts, is a play within a play, set in the busy 1930s New York City. Those attending the play got to see a mix of cynicism, sword play, identity mix-ups, and plenty of laughs, according to Mahnken. Over the two days of the play, the group raised approximately $2,000, he said.

The cast for the play included several local actors, including: Jordan Mahnken, Rev. Spenser Johnson, Denise Johnson, Tyler Mahnken, Holly Cornelius, Margarita Mahnken, Madie Kemling, Andrew Mahnken, Brandon Lehl, and Devon (Holaway) Schnorr. Assisting behind the scenes were Kelly M Hansen, stage manager; Val Foster, assistant stage manager; and Jasmine Lehl, sound manager.

Sponsors for this year’s play included Hastings Memorial Library, Tim and Ashley Colglazier, Hughes Family Farms, The Lighthouse Restaurant, Cliff and Janie Colglazier, Ag Sales and Service, and The Perkins County Arts Council.
