Cruise night to feature the old and new

The City of Grant will host their 6th annual Cruise Night this Friday, Aug. 4.

All are welcome to gather at Grant City Park at 6:30 p.m. for a hot dog meal courtesy of the city. A parade of cars traveling up and down Grant’s Central Avenue will follow.

City of Grant Park and Rec Director Rachel Patrick said they decided to take a different approach than in years past by providing more of a social atmosphere for the event.

Featured at the park’s turnaround will be an old wagon provided by Cecil Hendricks and Ryan Hendricks and a 2005 Corvette provided by Dan Zwickl. Patrick hopes these two modes of old and new transportation will be conversation starters for attendees of all ages to enjoy.

She encourages people to bring their old and new automobiles, and everything in between, to cruise the streets of Grant.

Nebraska’s sesquicentennial will be recognized as 150 years of “cruising” in Nebraska.

Patrick said they expanded the mailing list this year, so they’re hoping for more cars to join the event.
