Departments battle house fire

Four area fire departments fought a house fire north of Grainton Friday night, March 1.

Elsie Fire Chief Chad Buresh said the occupants at 35125 Rd 759 were out safely by the time the department arrived after receiving the call around 6:30 p.m.

Upon arriving, the roof was engulfed in flames. Called to mutual aid were Grant, Madrid and Wallace volunteer fire departments, with additional assistance from the Perkins County Sheriff’s Office. Buresh said they remained on scene for four to five hours.

The cause of the fire and extent of damage has not yet been determined.
