Karl Dudo explains the buildings and details he’s included in the train display at Pinnacle Bank.

Dudo promotes train hobby with public display

Growing up by train tracks in Philadelphia, Karl Dudo of Grant took interest in model trains at a young age.

He would see a freight car from the northwest and be fascinated how far it had travelled to get to Philadelphia.

At 12 years old, Dudo began collecting HO scale model trains. HO is a rail transport modelling scale using a 1:87 scale, and the most popular scale of model railway in the world.

“Just one piece at a time,” Dudo said about growing his collection, which now includes an estimated 150 train cars and a dozen engines.

Each train car comes in a kit unassembled. He said he still has some needing assembled, and is saving them for a rainy day.

“It’s a lot of fun. The detail. The scenery. With your imagination you can do whatever you want to. The sky is the limit,” Dudo said.
