Early ballots boost turnout

Voters in Perkins County favored the use of early balloting to cast their votes in last week’s Primary Election in Nebraska.

Of the 892 voters who cast ballots in Perkins County, 737   of them opted to use early ballots that were either mailed back or dropped off at the courthouse.

That represents nearly 83 percent of the voting completed with early ballots, compared with just 155 who went to the polls at the Perkins County fairgrounds.

Rita Long, county clerk and election commissioner, said the use of the early voting was a big factor in a 47.35% turnout for a Primary Election.
