Event raises funds for Venango meal site

The Perkins County Senior Center held a family Bingo and homemade ice cream night on Wednesday, June 19 to raise funds for the Venango meal site challenge grant project.

Senior Center Director Trish Jiminez said the fundraiser was a huge success, with approximately 100 people in attendance bringing in $1,155.

“Everyone had a wonderful time enjoying an evening of Bingo and a great selection of different flavored homemade ice creams.” 

The Immanuel Vision Foundation awarded a challenge grant to the senior center to re-establish a once-a-week meal site in Venango. The foundation challenged the center and community to raise $4,250 by Oct. 31.

If the fundraising is successful, the foundation will match the amount dollar for dollar. As of June 24, a total of $1,655 has been raised.

Those who would like to donate may send a check to the Perkins County Senior Center at PO Box 314, Grant, NE 69140 with “Venango” on the memo line of the check to ensure 100 percent goes to the Venango meal site.
