The farmers’ market in downtown Grant features an abundance of items, including fresh veggies such as these.

Farmers’ market offers fresh variety every Wednesday

Two decades ago, Kris Long was instrumental in organizing the farmers’ market held in downtown Grant.

Now retired, Long felt it was a good time to get it started again. She found a location, Deaver Computer’s parking lot, which owner Bernie Deaver graciously provides free of charge.

Since starting three weeks ago, the market has had an abundance of offerings, including all sorts of fruits and vegetables, baked goods, sweet corn, honey, flowers, sewn materials and more.

There is no charge to vendors and any are welcome to come and set up a table. Vendors must provide their own tables and supplies. A sun shade is recommended as no shade is provided.

The farmers’ market is held every Wednesday from 4-5:30 p.m. in Deaver Computer’s parking lot on Central Avenue in between Second and Third Streets.

Long said it’s very important for the farmers’ market to possess a community spirit and it’s been great to see the community come together and help each other.
