First Dollars and many events highlighted during June Chamber meeting

The June Perkins County Chamber meeting was held on Thursday, June 19, at noon at the Perkins County Senior Center, with 17 people in attendance.
First Dollar Awards
First Dollar Awards were presented to the United Methodist Church and J & D Mobile Car Wash.

United Methodist Church
Minister Spenser Johnston has been serving the church for one year. The United Methodist Church recently celebrated its 140th anniversary, and their motto remains, “All for Jesus, Jesus for all.”
The church hosts the local AA meetings, and will also host “Parables in the Park” again on Thursdays, this July. Community meals are held on the first Wednesday of each month, and everyone is welcome. Sunday services are held at 9 a.m.
Perkins County Fair
The Perkins County Fair will be here soon, July 13–18. Fair Board Member Samantha Goff provided an update on the week’s events. Highlights include:
• Horse Show – July 10
• Animal Check-In – July 14
• Ranch Rodeo – July 16
• Free Concert – July 17
• Parade, BBQ, and Summer Jam Concert – July 18
BRAG (Bike Ride Around Grant)
BRAG was another great success, with 185 riders and walkers participating. The route included stops at Westview, the courthouse, Midwest Electric, and the elementary school before returning to the park.
Participants collected stickers on their passports at each stop and were entered into prize drawings. Prizes included:
• Two bicycles donated by Arnold Insurance
• Three bicycles donated by the Perkins County Chamber
• One family pool pass donated by the City of Grant
• Two family pool passes donated by Pinnacle Bank
Thank you to everyone who participated in this fun community event.
Drive-In Movie
The drive-in movie was held indoors due to rainy weather. Thank you to Midwest Electric and Hatch’s Super Foods for sponsoring Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
Community Garage Sales
The community garage sales were held on June 6 and had a great turnout. Mark your calendars for next year on the first Saturday in June.
Music on the Lot
Music on the Lot, hosted by Blume, featured Platinum Pearls on Friday evening during Alumni Weekend. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported this great entertainment venue.
Upcoming Events
• July 4 Celebration in the Park – Activities will include the Firecracker Run, breakfast, sand volleyball, slushes, lunch, watermelon feed, car show, bounce houses, cornhole tournament, free swimming, tree trivia throughout the day, and a fireworks show beginning at 9:30 p.m. Come enjoy a great day with family and friends.
Firework donations will be accepted at any bank in Grant or in the jars at Hatch’s Super Food’s. The Chamber is grateful for all of the donations received.

Business Updates
• Arnold Insurance announced that pet insurance is now available through Nationwide.
• EC Photography will be working with 4-H livestock exhibitors during the Perkins County Fair.
• Sandhills State Bank has opened an office in Omaha.
