Friday final day to register for Nov. 3 election

People who haven’t registered to vote in the Nov. 3 General Election have until Friday to so.

Perkins County Clerk and Election Commissioner Rita Long said her office will stay open until 6 p.m. MST Friday evening to take registrations.

Friday 6 p.m. is also the deadline for registered voters to request an early-voting ballot be mailed to them.

Long said the mail request application can be delivered in person or sent by email to clerk@perkins.nacone.org and must contain a signature. She said it’s acceptable to take a picture of the signed early-ballot request card and email it to her. The state mailed those request cards to county voters.

Voters can also go to her office at the courthouse and vote in-person until 4 p.m. Nov. 2. Voters can fill out the early ballot request in her office prior to voting.

Thus far, about 70 people have voted in-person. She’s had more than 600 requests for early ballots. Of those, more than 300 have already been returned.

Those early ballot requests by voters represent slightly more than 30 percent of the registered voters in the county.  The most recent count put the number of registered voters at 1,880. That total will change some after the registration deadline passes.
