In addition to archived quilts, Meadowlark Gallery in Grant will feature the inspirational paintings of local artist Alyson Carlson for the next two weekends.
Carlson grew up in Kearney, Neb., and graduated from UNK with degrees in elementary education, early childhood education and visual arts.
A resident of rural Grant, Carlson is the mother of four grown children and has been married to husband Mike for 30 years. She has taught for 32 years,  currently as the K-12 art teacher at South Platte Public Schools in Big Springs, Neb.
Carlson has had a lifelong passion for creating, and loves teaching children and adults. “With our children raised and gone, I’ve found time to renew my love for painting,” she said.
She creates acrylic/multi-media works full of bright/vivid colors, various/unique textures. Each painting’s focus is an inspirational Christian message.
The gallery will be hosted by Carlson on Friday and Saturday, May 19-20 and 26-27.
