Gerald Engel memorial given to GVFD

A monetary memorial gift was given to the Grant Volunteer Fire Department (GVFD) at the department’s Dec. 4 monthly business meeting by the family of Gerald Engel. 

Engel was a 45-year member of GVFD and is recognized as the longest serving member in the history of the department. 

Engel served as secretary for most of his tenure with the department.

The Engel memorial is being used to purchase communication equipment for a future replacement apparatus. 

Engel was a longtime, loyal member of GVFD, receiving numerous perfect attendance awards. 

The name of Gerald Engel will be engraved on the memorial plaque which is on public display in the meeting room of the GVFD.

This memorial is a lasting tribute to his servant attitude for helping his fellow man in the time of need.
