G&P centennial celebration at Enders Lake Saturday

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Nebraska Game & Parks, with observations planned around the state in observance of the centennial.

Enders Lake will be holding their “100 Year Extravaganza” at the state recreation area south of Imperial Saturday, June 5.

Enders Supt. Beau Licking and his assistant, Dayna Scherbarth, have organized what will be one of the biggest G&P birthday bashes planned  for this part of the state.

Events will begin at 6:30 a.m. with registration  for a 7 a.m. 5K run and conclude with a free evening barbecue and dance.

Licking, who is superintendent for both the Enders State Recreation Area and Rock Creek State Recreation area, said both parks are represented at the event but all activities will be held at Enders Lake.

The featured event of the day is a 3 p.m. appearance of the Gould Brothers, known for their trick shooting exhibitions.

The duo has been featured on outdoor sports shows, along with a big presence on YouTube.

Throughout the day, people of all ages will want to visit several Game & Parks traveling exhibits including a mammal display and activity trailer.

There will also be a history tent, a G&P expo and kayak instruction.
