Grant City Council has two available seats

1. What qualifications do you have that would effectively serve and benefit the City of Grant if you are elected to this position?

Matthew Greenwood: Did not respond.

Kimberly Bishop: I have 2 1/2 years of city council experience here in Grant, in addition to a four-year college degree, and 20+ years of experience in sales and customer service in my professional career. I have strong communication skills and always welcome input and feedback from the citizens of Grant, the mayor, and my peers. I am passionate about this community, and as a working mother of two, I have a vested interest in helping maintain and grow the city for future generations.

Samuel Sims: I have been in the U.S. military. I was responsible for several soldiers. I took a leadership training in the military and graduated at the top 10% of the class. Since that time, I have earned five degrees, four of them in health care. I take a leadership role in the operating room. I deal with conflict and resolutions in high stress environments, and we have to all learn to work together and make everything have a successful outcome, regardless of our personal opinions.

2. What sets you apart from your opponents?

Samuel Sims: I don’t necessarily see them as my opponents, because I see them as fellow Grant peers. What I see is an opportunity for me to be on the city council in a town that I have transferred my family to from a big city. I’ve lived in big cities and I’ve lived in small towns, and I like the small town atmosphere. I feel like this town is welcoming to new people, and I want to continue that. 

Kimberly Bishop: My experience on the council, combined with my energy, drive, and commitment to the success of our city make me the best candidate for council. I consistently strive to be a part of the solution and not a part of the problem. I am always open to hearing all sides of any discussion and I make decisions based on facts and honest intentions. I am a forward-thinker and I am not afraid to try new things, but I also understand the importance of traditions. I have lived in big cities, which gives me insight in to a different way of doing things, but I also appreciate the uniqueness of our small town and the things that make it so great.
