Grant Lions issue high honors

The Grant Lions Club issued three very prestigious awards to three local citizens at the Grant Lions 70th anniversary charter night on Wednesday, May 4. Attending were 75 Lions from 12 area clubs and several friends.

Gloria Patrick, a Lion and president-elect of the club, received the Melvin Jones Fellowship. Jones was the founder of Lions Clubs International in 1917.

Also receiving this humanitarian honor is Val Hochstein, employee of Hatch’s Super Foods in Grant. She is the first ever non-Lion member to be honored in this way by the Grant Lions. The club claims that she tirelessly serves the food needs for their fund raising events.

Kevin Tickle received the Dennis Hull Award. Kevin has been the Grant Lions Tamer for several years. His loyalty in diligently keeping the club paraphernalia on hand at all times earned him this recognition. Mr. Hull is the past Nebraska Lions manager and driver of the Sight and Hearing unit which serves over 120 Nebraska schools, students and many public events.
