The Great Western Cattle Trail Association holds meeting

 The Great Western Cattle Trail Association of Nebraska met March 27 at the Champion Community Building beginning with a meal provided by the Champion Junior Women’s Club.

Each attendee introduced themselves with an interesting story about the Great Western Cattle Trail.  

Co-Chairman Harold Potthoff presented stock certificates to Charles Colton and Bob Martin as the newest delegates to the Board of Directors.

Three-ring binders were presented to the owners of the land where the markers are located by Co-Chairman Ted Tietjen.

Marvin Large of Imperial gave a presentation concerning future locations of The Trail markers in the Hamlet area. Another possible location suggested was on the Hartford land by Haigler.

Special guest, Gary Kraisinger, historian, representing the Kansas Chapter of the  Western Cattle Trail Association, (WCTA) explained the rationale for changing the verbiage of the Great Western Cattle Trail to the Western Cattle Trail.

Emily Malmkar of Grant, presented a proposal for a website to be implemented for the Western Cattle Trail. 

 The Southwest Chapter of the Western Cattle Trail will be hosting the 2018 WCTA Conference the third week in October. The location for this event will be held in Trenton and the planning for the conference will be discussed at a later date in June.
