GVFD responds to 32 fire calls in 2020

The year 2020 was a bit of a busy one for the Grant Fire Department and Perkins County Ambulance.

Department personnel responded to a total of 265 calls in 2020 related to ambulance and fire situations. 

This number is up 55 calls from 2019, but is three fewer calls than in 2018.

Fire trucks responded to 37 situations, compared to 41 in 2019 and 32 in 2018.

The ambulance responded to 228 EMS calls during 2020, which is considerably more than 2019 when they responded to 169 calls. 

In 2018, however, they responded to 236 EMS calls.

The Grant Volunteer Fire Department and Perkins County Ambulance officers for the year 2020 were as follows: Rick Dreiling, chief; Fred Reichert, assistant chief; Don Softley, senior captain; Bryan Kroeker and Jason Noyes, fire captains; Robert Hochstein and Scott Knolls, fire lieutenant; Chasity Knolls, ambulance captain; Dalton Zimmerman and Robert Hochstein, Ambulance lieutenant.

For the year 2021, the officers are Rick Dreiling, chief; Fred Reichert, assistant chief; Don Softley, senior captain; Bryan Kroeker and Jason Noyes, fire captains; Scott Knolls, fire lieutenant; Chasity Knolls, ambulance captain; Dalton Zimmerman, ambulance lieutenant.

Chief Dreiling says membership changes from time to time, but they keep about 25 to 27 on average.
