Grant’s temperature reached 75 degrees on Thursday, Feb. 16.

Has spring sprung?

Record high temperatures swept through the plains states including Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma and Alabama on Thursday, Feb. 16.

The temperature recorded on the Pinnacle Bank sign in Grant read 75 degrees at its highest point.

Sidney and Valentine, Neb. tied their records with 76 and 78 degree highs.

According to the Weather Channel, the unseasonable temperatures are due to the jet stream flattening out, allowing the heat from the west into the plains.

Elsewhere in the country, Winter Storm Olympia dumped a foot of snow in the northeastern states.

According to the Weather Channel’s forecast, Grant residents can expect a change by week’s end.
