Country music star Joe Nichols will headline this year’s 2025 Perkins County Fair on Saturday, July 19. Nichols will be joined earlier in the evening  by country music newcomer Josh Ross.

“We have another great lineup for this year’s fair,” said Perkins County Fairboard President Kasey Kroeker. Along with Nichols and Ross, Kroeker said the great entertainment isn’t stopping there.

As usual, the Ranch Rodeo will be held on Thursday night, with Nichols and Ross entertaining Saturday. But, as for Friday, this year’s entertainment will be a little different, Kroeker said.

Instead of a rodeo that has normally been held on Friday night, this year’s entertainment will be an additional band, Kroeker said. This band has not yet been secured, Kroeker said, but will in the near future.

Along with the ranch rodeo and the musical entertainment, the 2025 Perkins County Fair, running from July 13-19, will be filled with a variety of other activities for young and old, 4-H activities, vendors, bingo and all of the fun fairgoers have come to love about the fair over the years.

Kroeker said the fair board has been hard at work with repairs and updates to the fairgrounds, including updates planned for the exhibit hall.

Also in the works, to hopefully be completed for the 2026 fair, is a new, bigger, open-air livestock show arena, Kroeker said. More details will be coming soon.

The theme this year was chosen by the board and will be “Perkins County: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow,” and aims to inspire the county’s nostalgia of the past, celebrate the present, and look forward to the county’s future and growth.

Fairboard members this year are Kroeker, Seth Burge, Samantha Goff, Elliott Peterson, Shawn Tjaden, Sam Lee, Russel Lee and Dan Lee, along with several associate members.

Joe Nichols

Multi-platinum Quartz Hill Records’ Joe Nichols is one of country music’s most-lauded recording artists. A 21st century traditionalist, Nichols is an artist who is both timely and timeless – one who has racked up more than TWO BILLION cumulative audio streams/views including a half-dozen No. 1 singles and ten Top 10 hits with a sound that blurs the boundaries between country music’s past and present. It’s an approach that has earned Nichols three GRAMMY nominations, a CMA award, an ACM trophy, a CMT “Breakthrough Video of the Year” Award as well as multiple gold and platinum-certified records. Nichols’ additional honors include awards from Billboard, Radio & Records and Music Row Magazine as well as a New York Times “Best-Albums-of-the-Year” nod. The celebrated star has appeared on national media programs ranging from the ACM Presents: Superstar Duets in CBS primetime to The Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, The View, Entertainment Tonight and Austin City Limits. He also made his big screen debut in the feature film Murder at Yellowstone City.

Nichols’ 11th career studio album, Honky Tonks and Country Songs, is available now across all digital retailers and streaming partners. The album’s first radio single, “Better Than You” (a duet with rising star Annie Bosko), has been a Top 5 Most Added Song at U.S. Country Radio (Mediabase) for five consecutive weeks and continues to ascend the charts.

Josh Ross

UMG Nashville/Universal Music Canada artist Josh Ross is one of Nashville’s most promising singer-songwriter-performers. On an unconventional path of his own design, Ross pairs a dark, mellow blast of modern country rock with a warm vocal rasp, heart-on-his-sleeve writing and addictive hooks that respect no borders – genre or otherwise. Pulling influence everywhere from Guns N’ Roses and Metallica to country-rock outlaw Steve Earle, the former collegiate football player has leveraged his knack for emotional song craft into a series of Platinum-certified Top 5 Canadian country radio hits. His dusky power ballad “Trouble” rose to #1 in Canada, leading Ross to a CCMA Breakthrough Artist of the Year win. Now breaking through in the US, the rising star has tallied more than 300 million career streams and been hailed as an Artist to Watch by Spotify, Amazon Music, Pandora, MusicRow, the Grand Ole Opry and more. Touring alongside hard-rocking superstars like Nickelback, Brantley Gilbert and Bailey Zimmerman, he has already headlined his own sold-out run and will embark on select dates of Luke Bryan’s ‘Mind of a Country Boy Tour’ this summer. Ross will release his new EP Complicated on March 29, co-writing seven of the project’s eight tracks. With thundering drums meeting steel guitars and the melodies of heartland pop, tracks like his current chart-climber “Single Again” show off Ross’ rich, edgy vocal set to a barroom anthem. Complicated arrives just five years after Ross arrived in Nashville, proving there’s much more to come from this next-generation talent who’s anything but standard.
