LaRae Day’s two daughters (l-r), Kylie and Karsyn Day, pose on what was meant to be Santa’s bench at A Jolly Little Place.

A Jolly Little Place ...for family photos

Since Santa couldn’t make it to the Chamber Open House, the space previously designated for that event has become a fun holiday spot for family photographs.

In the lot just north of Soulful Salvage, LaRae Day and Monica Poppe have set up a winter holiday themed area for people to use as a backdrop for family photos

There is fencing and Christmas-themed greenery for backgrounds, a small camper, a bench where Santa was originally meant to sit and more to set a wintery mood for photos.

Inside the camper, there are even some blankets and candy cane decorations to use as props.

A Jolly Little Place got its name from when Day and Poppe were decorating.

Day said her daughters kept referring to the space as “a jolly little place” and the name just stuck.

There is no charge to use the setup, but Day and Poppe ask that all who utilize the photo area bring something to donate to the food pantry. Donations can be left inside the little green camper that is on site.

“I hope people have enjoyed it and have been able to use it and donate to the food pantry!” Day said.

A Jolly Little Place can be found on Facebook by searching its name. It is currently used to provide updates on the location, for example if anything is added to the area, and they encourage those who use the space to post the photos to the page.

The setup will be available for public use at least through December. Whether or not it will continue to be up into January has not yet been decided.
