Josh Turner new headliner for Chase County Fair’s country show

Booking entertainment for the Chase County Fair can present its own set of unique challenges. Just ask Entertainment Chair Alex McNair or former chair Dan Kunnemann.

Sometimes things occur that are completely out of the control of the fair board. This is one of those situations.

Just as tickets for Trace Adkins were ready to go on sale online, McNair was notified Adkins had a personal scheduling conflict and would be unable to appear here Saturday, Aug. 17.

But the situation has a happy ending. Trace Adkins is already booked for the 2020 fair and Josh Turner will headline this year’s country show.

Turner will be joined by special guest Shenandoah.

McNair said the fair and country music fans will both benefit. Not only will they get to hear Josh Turner this year but Adkins is already booked for next year, he said.

Combine that with Friday night’s rock ’n roll experience featuring Hairball and McNair said the fair will offer another great lineup for the summer-ending shindig.

Josh Turner

Like Adkins will be next year, Turner’s performance will be a repeat appearance. He first performed on the Chase County Fair stage in 2006.

With his rich, deep voice and distinctive style, MCA Nashville recording artist Josh Turner is one of country music’s most recognizable hit-makers.

From his 2003 Platinum-selling debut Long Black Train to his 2017 Billboard No. 1 release, Deep South, Turner has scored multiple GRAMMY®, CMA and ACM Awards nominations, received six Inspirational Country Music Awards and is among the youngest members inducted into the Grand Ole Opry.

In addition, Turner has sold more than 8 million units, topped more than 1.5 billion in global streaming and populated radio. His memorable hits include “Hometown Girl,” “Would You Go With Me,” “Your Man,” “Time Is Love,” “Why Don’t We Just Dance” and “Long Black Train.”

Shenandoah

Opening for Turner will be Shenandoah, one of the greatest groups in the genre.

Shenandoah became well known for delivering such hits as “Two Dozen Roses,” “Church on Cumberland Road” and “Next to You, Next to Me.” Add those to achingly beautiful classics as “I Want to be Loved Like That” and the Grammy-winning “Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Heart” duet with Alison Krauss.

Today that legacy continues as original members Marty Raybon and Mike McGuire reunite to launch a new chapter in Shenandoah’s storied career.

Hairball

McNair said Friday’s show will be a unique show that features music and costumes of some of the biggest rock acts ever—Van Halen, KISS, Motley Crue, Queen, Journey, and Aerosmith.

The Hairball stage becomes an entirely new rock concert countless times throughout the night.

McNair said Hairball’s show will be far more than a concert, it’s an event.

He said they’ve been wanting to bring the act to the fair stage but they were always booked.

This marks the 19th year Hairball has been rocking and every night is a 100 percent full-on, no-holds-barred, exciting, chaotic, fiery party that has to be experienced to be believed.
