Lady Plainsmen take six sets Saturday

The Perkins County volleyball team had a successful Saturday at the Potter-Dix tourney. The girls won all six sets they played.

Perkins County, Potter-Dix, Crawford and Morrill were all in attendance at the tourney Sept. 26.

“Having a whole week off from games, we were fresh physically and mentally, and ready to play,” said coach Monica Cole.

The Lady Plainsmen defeated the Morrill Lions 25-21 and 25-15.

They earned another win for the day against the Crawford Rams, 25-23 and 25-20.

To finish out their undefeated day, Perkins County earned a victory over the Potter-Dix Coyotes, the score 25-14 in both games.

“Going undefeated, totally, with a 2 set sweep each game was a great feeling,” Cole said.

She noted the girls served strong against all three teams they went up against, and they ended the day with a total of 30 ace serves.

The Lady Plainsmen also had overall good serve receiving and free ball passing, according to Cole. She said it helps when those two things are done so the girls have the opportunity for a good setup of a strong attack.

Their tourney victories make Perkins County’s record 12-4 coming into this week.

Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 29, the Lady Plainsmen headed to Chase County for a triangular including Gothenburg.
