Library kicks off adult reading program

Hastings Memorial Library in Grant is raising the stakes for its annual adult reading program.

This year’s program, “Libraries Rock,” kicked off April 16 and includes several events as well as six prize packages for winners to choose from.

Library Director Robin Quinn said as of the start date there were already 15 registered.

For every two books participants read, they get an entry to win the prize package of their choice. There are prize packages for movie lovers, grilling, gardening, coffee and chocolate lovers, foodies, and home spa.

Every four books read gets participants an entry into the Grand Prize Outdoor Fun Prize Pack.

Adult and teen titles in print, eBook and audiobook format are eligible, and the program ends May 26.

Those interested in joining the program may fill out a registration form at the library. Progress is recorded by the librarians.

“We are very excited about the great response we have gotten so far from our revamped programming,” said Quinn. “We tried to keep it simple, but wanted to add new elements, like events and activities, because adults need fun stuff to do too!”

Events

Participants can earn an extra entry by attending the following events. Participation in the reading program is not required to attend an event.  All events are free and open to the public.
