Sparrows swarmed Kay Cheney’s bird feeders for breakfast early Thursday morning, as they do each day, even in the frigid cold. February was named National Bird Feeding Month in 1994 by Congressman John Porter. Because February is one of the toughest months of the year for birds to survive and find adequate nutrition, he was determined to help feed birds during this time.
