Efforts are underway to raise $90,000 for new playground equipment and improvements at Madrid’s park, with organizers hoping to have the project installed in April 2027.
Brandie Ross Sando and Michelle Ross are leading the fundraising effort for the project, which is expected to cost about $90,000. The village of Madrid has set aside $10,000 leaving $80,000 to be raised through donations.
Adams Bank & Trust has contributed $2,000 toward the playground project.
Plans include a new slide and a play structure designed for children ages 2 to 5. An updated, two-bay swing set would provide two baby swings and two regular swings.
The project also calls for rubber mulch to provide a more comfortable play surface and plastic timbers around the entire play area.
The fundraising flyer carries the message “More than a playground,” emphasizing the park’s role as a place for children and families to build memories. It encourages contributions of any size to help support the improvements.
Donations may be dropped off with Michelle Ross at Pinnacle Bank in Grant.
