Maintenance work will begin on N-61
Weather permitting, a cold milling and chip sealing project will begin April 27 on Nebraska 61 (N-61), according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation. Cold milling is a process of removing deteriorated asphalt in preparation of placing a chip seal to improve the roadway surface and drivability. Chip seal is an application of an asphalt binder to a roadway surface followed by an aggregate.
State maintenance forces will be performing a cold milling and chip seal from reference post 68.48 to reference post 78.56, from 8th Street and N-61 intersection to the Perkins/Keith County Line. The work is anticipated to take 20 days. Traffic will be maintained with a pilot car and flaggers.
Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and put phones down.
