Make a difference through TeamMates mentoring

Since beginning in the fall of 2016, Perkins County Schools TeamMates mentoring program has gotten off to a successful start.

Coordinator Larry Pritchett said in the three years of the program’s existence in the elementary and middle school, it has grown from 29 to 41 students, with 15 more indicating they want to participate next school year.

With 56 potential students, this also increases the need for more mentors. The 15 new participants are made up of eight girls and seven boys.

“We are extremely short of mentors for boys. I would hate to see a young boy or a young girl not be able to participate because we couldn’t find an adult male or female willing to give up 30 minutes a week to make a difference in a young person’s life,” said Pritchett.

The mentor application process is done online. Those interested can visit https://Teammates.org and click “APPLY ONLINE” to complete the application. Applicants will then receive an email with the information needed on how to obtain a background check for TeamMates.
