Memorial Day services planned
Memorial Day services have been set for Monday, May 31 across local communities to pay tribute to Americans who have fallen in battle.
Grant
Legion Post 40’s annual Memorial Day service in Grant will be held at 10 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery southwest of Grant.
Kris Aerni and the Boy Scouts will raise flags at the cemetery, and the public is invited to the flag folding at 6 p.m. at the Fairgrounds.
Madrid
Madrid’s Memorial Day service will begin with their annual pancake feed from 6:30-8 a.m. at the Madrid community hall.
The service will follow at 9 a.m. at the Madrid Cemetery.
Elsie
Elsie’s annual Memorial Day service will begin at 10 a.m. at the Elsie Cemetery, east of town.
Venango
The Venango Legion Post 270 will host their Memorial Day service at 10:30 a.m. at the Venango Cemetery.
Speaker will be Senator Dan Hughes, who represents the people of the 44th legislative district in the Nebraska Unicameral Legislature. Music will be provided by Heather From. There will be no noon lunch this year due to COVID.
Wallace
The Wallace American Legion Post 213 will hold their service at 10:30 a.m. CT at the cemetery south of Wallace.
After the service, there will be a free-will lunch of hamburgers, chips, beans and ice cream served at the legion hall in Wallace.
