Missoula Children’s Theatre rousing success

“The Snow Queen” performance, brought to town by the Missoula Children’s Theatre but brought to life by the area’s youth, took the stage on Saturday after a week of preparation.

“It was amazing, and it was very well attended,” said Vice President and Secretary of the Youth Arts Program, Kristin Chamness. “There has been so much positive feedback from the community.”

The shows, which took place at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Mar. 7, sold about 300 tickets. Profits from the ticket sales will go to the Youth Arts Program.

The Youth Arts Program was able to raise enough money with the help of the community to cover the cost of bringing MCT here.

As a result, ticket proceeds will help toward bringing the Missoula Children’s Theatre back to Grant in the future.

The funds from the show could also be used for other arts opportunities for the community.

“It was exciting to bring the Missoula Children’s Theatre to Grant,” said Gerty Wyatt, president of the Youth Arts Program. “It seems like the kids really enjoyed themselves and had a lot of fun.”

The group will continue to fundraise throughout the year so they can ensure they are able to bring the Missoula Children’s Theatre experience to town in the years to come.

“We really appreciate the community’s support in this endeavor because having arts opportunities in the community helps grow life skills and also helps the community grow as a whole,” Wyatt said.
