Mrs. Nebraska Adair Reese to compete at Mrs. America

After claiming the Mrs. Nebraska crown in April, Adair Reese of Grant will travel to Las Vegas this week to compete in Mrs. America at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino Aug. 17-24.

Since being crowned Mrs. Nebraska, Reese has spent much of her time on the road with close to 50 appearances across the state.

She attended the “Longest Day” event held in Kearney to support those suffering with Alzheimer’s, where she met an Elvis impersonator who lives in Lincoln and competed on America’s Got Talent.  She’s also attended a poker run in Northeastern Nebraska, the Cornhusker State Games, Miss Outstanding Nebraska, and many other events.

“I feel the best experience is getting yourself out there and meeting the state you are going to be representing,” she said.

A send-off for Reese will be held this Thursday, Aug. 15 at First Insight Eyecare in Grant. Cake and coffee will be served from 4-5:30 p.m.

Other send-off events have been held by Wolf Auto in Ogallala and a surprise party by Reese’s husband Jason.

Reese will fly to Las Vegas this Friday for the week-long event. The interview portion of the competition will be held Wednesday, Aug. 21 and preliminaries will be held Thursday. Finals will be Saturday, Aug. 24 and streamed live at www.mrsamerica.com.

Reese said while competing at nationals they spend a lot of time rehearsing, taking tours and getting to know other contestants.

She said the best part is being able to work with Victoria’s Voice, a national organization started by the Siegels to honor their daughter who tragically lost her life to an overdose at age 18.

“It goes along with my platform so well because those who go with ADHD undiagnosed have a much higher rate of becoming an addict due to self-medicating,” Reese said.

Reese is grateful to her husband, kids, family and friends for all their support during this journey.

“By the end of my journey in April 2020, I truly hope I hand off my crown knowing that I did it all! I really want to make sure I’m completely exhausted and ready to ‘slow down’…….Whatever that’s like!”

Reese recently began a new position as youth market director with the American Heart Association.
