Nordyke art to be featured at gallery

Painter Ron Nordyke of Chappell, will be in Grant to meet the community during an open house on Friday, Aug. 2 from 6-8 p.m. at Meadowlark Gallery.

Guitarist Denny Hansen of Grant, will also be performing live during the event.

Nordyke was the designer and helped paint the 12-by-90 foot mural in the South Platte School gym in Big Springs.

In 1992, Nordyke began a new career, teaching second to 12th grade art. He has been focusing on fine art painting, competing and showing art throughout the region in various shows and galleries consistently since 2000.

He also produces high-quality, limited edition, signed and numbered prints of his paintings.

Recognized regionally for his “Landscape Quilt” paintings, Nordyke is continually using the juxtaposition of objects and ideas to create visual metaphors in his works and searching for “meaning”.

He enjoys the awesome beauty of a sky, a landscape, a face, or just something old, weathered and worn.

In some ways they are a lot like the quilts he paints; a little piece of this and a scrap of that.

Just as quilts are laid out in patterns of simple repeating shapes, his art has some of these themes that reoccur… and life is a lot like that.

Looking for ways to visually express the overlapping of the “natural” God-created world and the “man-made world” fuels his artistic fire.
