Paper census forms coming in the mail

Americans will begin seeing paper forms from the Census Bureau arriving in mailboxes April 8-16.

The Census Bureau previously delivered postcards to households urging them to complete the census online or by phone.

The paper forms will serve as another reminder.

Thus far, Nebraska ranks sixth overall in the country for people already completing the census.

The national response rate stands at 45.7% as of Monday while 51.3% of Nebraskans have completed the 10 census questions. Of those completing the survey, 45% did so online.

In Perkins County, 45.5% of residents have responded thus far, with 45% doing so online.

The census can be completed at www.my2020census.gov, by phone at 844-330-2020 (English) or 844-468-2020 (Spanish), or by the paper form.

Completing the census form is key not only to Nebraska, but to cities and villages in the state.

Accurate census counts bring federal dollars back to the local areas based upon population-related funding formulas.

In addition, the local area needs to have everyone counted to keep its appropriate political representation at the state and national level.
